The services celebrating and honoring the life of Verna L. “Tootie” Burris, 89, of Enid will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 28, 2023, in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Enid Cemetery.

Tootie was born August 8, 1933, to Amel and Clara Brobst Buller on the family farm in Goltry, Oklahoma and passed from this life January 17, 2023, in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was raised and educated in Goltry on her family’s farm. She married Leroy Burris and from this union came two sons. She worked as a waitress for many years at George’s Grill, Fo Grill on Rock Island Blvd., and Wee Too Restaurant until her retirement in 2007.

She was strong minded and independent and could not have a bigger heart. She loved people watching, going on rides, and going to Braum’s for ice cream. She was a Sooner and Thunder fan. She absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews and her beloved cat Sherry of seventeen years, who was her number one priority outside of her sons and family.

She is survived by two sons, Ron Burris, of Florida and Mike Burris, of Enid; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two nieces, Nita Buller, and Linda Coleman; nephews, Robert Buller and Mark Buller; and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents Amel and Clara Buller; stepmom, Ruby Buller, and her siblings, Floyd, Lawrence, Robert, Amel Jr, and Nellie Lorenz.

Memorials may be given in her honor to the Enid SPCA with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
