Leonard "Len" McPherson

January 13, 1946 - June 25, 2023

Leonard “Len” Dale McPherson LCSW, 77, of Enid, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on June 25, 2023 surrounded by family. There will be a celebration of life service at Crosspoint Church on July 15, 2023 at 10 am with Pastor Asher Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Enid Mennonite Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Len was born on January 13, 1946 to Loren and Thelma McPherson in Pontiac, Michigan. Len went to Waterford Kettering High School, Class of 1964. Following graduation from Western Michigan University he served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Fitzsimmons Army Base, providing counseling to soldiers returning from combat. After being honorably discharged he attended Smith College earning his Masters of Social Work. He later went into private practice providing compassionate care for over fifty years as a licensed clinical social worker with offices in both Cherry Creek and Boulder, Colorado. It was his calling and he was truly exceptional at what he did!

Len had the gift of genuinely listening, being fully present in the moment, and making everyone feel like they were his best friend. His kind and caring demeanor put people at ease and he was known for always thinking of others before himself. As one of his clients said, “He was a truly remarkable human being”.

Although Len held the title of LCSW, he most valued his relationship with Jesus Christ and his God-given role as husband (Lenny Mac), dad (Pops), grandpa (Pop-Pop, Poppy, Grandpa Boy, Papa Len, Papa Lenny), and friend.

Len is preceded in death by his dad Loren Jackson McPherson and mom Thelma Eleanor (Curry) McPherson; his brothers: Calvin, Alton, and Homer; his sisters: Margie and Val; and his granddaughter Adeline Grace.

Leading up to Len’s passing he was most looking forward to meeting his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Then Papa Lenny planned to snuggle and dote on sweet Adeline Grace and reunite with his mom and dad, Thelma and Loren. Oh what a wonderful reunion that will be!

Len is survived by his loving wife Lynn “Madi” McPherson; daughters: Kristen (Lauren), Sara (Jeremey), Rebecca (Logan), and Tarah; son Kyle (Julianna); and grandchildren: Isabela, Emma, Addie, Brendan, Ryah, Charlotte, Audrey, Declan, Jackson, Caiden, Evelyn, Lucianna, and Saoirse.

Obituaries are posted, in part, due to the generosity of The Commons.
