Lonnie (Duane) Cashwell

The memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Lonnie Duane Cashwell, 65, of Enid will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Sean A. Ekberg and The Rev. Dr. John Toles will officiate. Services and complete cremation care are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Duane was born to Lonnie and Dona (Knabe) Cashwell on June 24, 1956, in Alva Oklahoma and raised by Lynn and Dona (Knabe) Louthan in Alva. He attended Alva High School. He worked various jobs while playing full-time as a bassist in the TZR Band. They traveled throughout the Midwest, playing gigs and were signed to a record deal. The TZR band continued to thrive until the untimely death of their lead singer in the mid 1990’s.

He worked as the manager of Sneakers restaurant for seven years and then briefly as a Schwann’s delivery driver before starting his career with FedEx. He married Patricia Price Ekberg July 13, 2013, at a private ceremony in Enid. He retired from FedEx in 2014 after 13 years. He then returned to his true passion in life, his music. He, alongside a friend, started the Johnsons Band and played in the local music scene with the Johnsons and a smattering of other musicians and friends. He also enjoyed cooking and baking breads.

He is survived by his wife Tricia Ekberg-Cashwell of the home, his children Bailey Ann Cashwell of Las Vegas, Sterling Ray Cashwell of Enid, and Coleman Vance Cashwell of Stillwater; stepson, The Rev. Sean Ekberg and his wife Nicole, of Yukon, two sisters: Sue Gammon and Donna (and Johnny, her husband) Jones; his nieces Brook and Monica, Jesse and Steven his nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Dona, two sisters, Rhonda Louthan and Margaret Province, and one nephew, Michael Dobbs.

Memorials may be made in his honor to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, OKC, Oklahoma with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
