January 25, 1942 - May 10, 2026
Jerry was born January 25, 1942, to Louis and Lorraine (Hayes) Lichtenberg, joining brother Jim and sister Barbara, who made him eat their mudpies, (except the frosted ones with chicken poo). Beverly also joined the family eight years later and the joys, sorrows, and laughter united their family into the present close-knit generations.
Jerry passed into his Savior’s embrace Sunday morning, May 10, 2026. Visitation will be held Thursday evening at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, 6pm to 7pm. Funeral will be Friday, 2pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Jonathan Meyer officiating. Jerry was baptized and confirmed in his Christian faith at St. Paul’s and remained a member there his entire life.
Jerry graduated from Waukomis High School in 1960 and attended O.S.U. one semester. Before Uncle Sam called him into the draft, Jerry enlisted in the United States Air Force with a buddy. At the time, it was nearly impossible to get a job if you were drafting age. Jerry tested into top secret military clearance and served in morse code in Fuchu Air Base, Japan and Salt Lake City, Utah from 1961 to 1965. He returned home, working at Vance Air Force Base, Enid Sale Barn, then joined the family farm with his Dad and Brother. He married Eileen (Simpson), Dec. 14, 1973, encircling her and their ready-to-go children with the love, character and values he had grown up in. As Papa’s personality and work ethic dictated, he has gone on ahead to thank Our Lord and remind us to follow “The Way, The Truth and The Life”.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim and beloved wife Eileen.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, “Build to the Future” fund.
He is survived by sisters Barbara Spivy of Arlington, Texas, Beverly and husband Chuck Grimes of Hennessey, sister-in-law Janice Lichtenberg of Enid; children Tammy and husband Steve Lemke of Norman, and Terry Franklin of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Thomas and wife, Rebecca Lemke, Seth and wife, Madisen and Sarah Lemke; great-grandchildren Ranan, Lucy, Alice, and Peter; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
