Tri-State Music Festival & Concert
It's time for the 91st Tri-State Music Festival! The Grand Concert is Friday night at the High School Auditorium. The marching parade is now in the fall during the Field Marching Contest. Tri-State History About eight or ten bands got together for the first Phillips Band Day in 1932. Band Day had drawn bands from Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas for the first event so it was unanimously decided to call the new event Tri-State. In 1933 Enid had its first real Tri-State Band Festival. The 110th Annual May Fete celebration will take place Wednesday, May 1 at Government Springs Park at 6:00pm. Enid High May Fete is a rite of passage for the senior class of Enid High School. It comes from an old English May Day tradition which celebrates the coming of spring. Enid High turned this tradition into a ceremony that not only welcomes spring but also honors the senior class each year. It began in 1915 and has changed very little over the decades. Northern Oklahoma College Enid will present the May planetarium show Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. Fritz Osell will present the night sky over Enid during May showing prominent constellations and planets in the evening sky.
