Family Farm Day
Enjoy Family Farm Day 2026?!
Each year, the Heritage Center hosts this event to highlight the longstanding history of farming in the region! Caramel apples, egg hunts with Cherokee FCCLA, playing with baby farm animals from DaZe in a MaZe, tractors from Major County Historical Society… and more! The Village will be full of several farm-tastic activities for guests to participate in ranging from pony rides and pumpkin painting, to blacksmithing and corn grinding to name just a few!
This year’s theme-within-the-theme is agriCULTURAL, and we’ve partnered up with various cultural groups throughout our community to provide programming that shows how farming has impacted/influenced different people groups and their traditions! For example, the Garfield County Hispanic Coalition and Chisholm Trail Milling will be teaching guests about the role that corn plays in the Hispanic community, by making masa with guests! They’ll have corn tortillas AND tamales! Leonardo's Children's Museum is educating guests about Filipino culture, and how ube (purple sweet potato) is a large part of their cuisine! Friends from the Kaw Nation and Cheyenne Arapaho Tribe are planning a demonstration with bison and corn soup, Okie-Dokie Dogs will be there with German bratwurst, there will be a hominy demonstration, a hand-made German noodle demonstration, locally made sourdough items for auction provided by The Mad Loaf, scones from Jezebel's Emporium & Tea Room, and much MORE!
In keeping with the agriCULTURAL theme, we’ll also have Zoetrope Old Time & Celtic playing LIVE music for visitors!
You won’t want to miss this!!! Join us on October 3rd from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.!
