Dennis K. Nichols

Saturday, April 24th, 1948 - Sunday, March 3rd, 2024

A celebration of life for Dennis K. Nichols, age 75, of Enid, will be 10:00am, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the United States Army. Reverend Bill Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7pm, Friday, March 15, 2024. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dennis was born on April 24, 1948, in Enid, to Virgil and Margaret (Pekrul) Nichols, and passed peacefully at his home on March 3, 2024. He was raised in the Helena/Goltry area, graduating from Helena High School in 1966. He married Susan Ging on September 4, 1968, at the Grace Mennonite Church in Enid. He was drafted into the US Army in 1968, where he served in Vietnam. Following his military service, the couple moved to Enid where they lived for several years, prior to returning to Helena in 1973. They welcomed their daughter, Amanda in 1975. Dennis worked at James Crabtree for 20 years, where he was the supervisor of the auto maintenance shop before transferring to building maintenance. He was also on the Helena Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. Dennis spent countless hours remodeling homes for family and friends, taking great pride in his work. After his retirement in 2017, they moved back to Enid where he continued his passion of remodeling; completely updating the house they had bought. The couple volunteered countless hours for the Enid SPCA where they were involved in many projects that required Dennis’ expertise. He was an essential part of the garage sales Susan organized that benefitted the SPCA. Dennis also enjoyed fostering puppies and kittens with Susan. He was an avid OU football and OU girls’ softball team fan. When he was not working on something, (which he was always working on something), his favorite pastime was going to the casino.

Dennis is survived by his wife Susan; daughter Amanda; sister Donnis Kent, of Helena; brother Jim Nichols and wife Linda, of Goltry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and of course his “girls”. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger, sisters-in-law Carlene and Judy, brother-in-law Tom Kent, and nieces Jodi Nichols and Tracy Kent.

Memorial contributions can be made to Enid SPCA with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
