EPS Makes Mask Wearing Optional

ENID, OK - Enid Public School Board of Education voted 4-2 Monday night to make mask wearing optional in all district buildings for the last 25 days in the school year. They had originally planned to begin this for summer school.

Since March, mask wearing has been optional at outdoor school events such as sports games. The policy affects both teachers and students.

Matt Sampson, Kyle Whitehead, Joe Blackwood and Chad Mantz vote for the change, Tory Turnbow and Colin Abernathy voted against. Frank Nelson was not present.

CITY OF ENID MASK POLICY

The City Commission voted 4-3 to rescind the mask mandate on March 16, 2021. The Declaration was to continue until April 30, 2021.

Ward 1 Commissioner Jerry Allen, Ward 2 Commissioner Derwin Norwood, Ward 5 Commissioner Rob Stallings and Mayor George Pankonin all voted in favor of the measure. Ward 3 Commissioner Ben Ezzell, Ward 4 Commissioner Jonathan Waddell and Ward 6 Commissioner Jeff Funk  voted against.
