Celebration of life service for Yvonne Joy Kennedy "Vonnie", 84, will be 2:30PM, Monday, February 24, 2020 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Russell and Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family present will be Sunday, February 23, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the funeral home.

Yvonne was born December 2, 1935 in Enid, Oklahoma to Dr. E. F. and Helene Lorene Craton and on February 21, 2020, she went to sleep and woke up in the arms of Jesus on her mothers’s birthday.

She graduated from Enid High School in 1953, and Enid Business College in 1954. Yvonne attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri from November 1955 to 1958. She was employed as a legal secretary for various attorneys in Enid, and secretary for the American Cancer Society in Springfield, Missouri. On August 18, 1963 she married Alfred Kennedy in Enid. They made their home on a farm near Fairmont, Oklahoma. They had four daughters Tammy, Julie and twins Earline and Laurene. She moved to Enid with her husband Alfred in 1995. After 23 ½ years out of the office, she returned as secretary of The Salvation Army in Enid, for over 9 years before retiring in 1996. Her hobbies included writing poetry, etc. Among her writings was her book “My Friends Wore Feathers”. She enjoyed birds, among them raising wild birds in distress. Yvonne and her husband Alfred shared a love for flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Enid.

Yvonne’s greatest blessing was knowing Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, which heightened her appreciation for all of her other relationships and blessings in life.

She is survived by her children Tammy Kennedy of Enid, Julie Boles (Richard) of Fairmont, Earline Cox (Steve) of Puyallup, Washington, and Laurene Flock (Russ) of Enid; 5 grandchildren Ryan Boles (Amanda), Elizabeth Hannenberg (Axel), Rachael Delgado (Omar), Andrew Cox and Nicole Cox; 1 great grandchild Harrison Hannenberg; and her sister Mavis L. Miller of Emmett, Idaho.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her mother, Helene Lorene Craton; her father Dr. Earl Franklin Craton, her precious granddaughter August Joy Kennedy, and her husband Alfred Kennedy.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to St. Jude’s.
