December 11 Declared as Ken Rapp Day

ENID, OK – Ken Rapp of the Denny Price Family YMCA was awarded a proclamation by Mayor Shewey declaring December 11th "Ken Rapp" Day. He was presented the proclamation at his retirement reception this morning at the Y. The proclamations states that Rapp has "served faithfully the Denny Price Family YMCA for 36 years, 31 years as CEO, exemplifying the YMCA's mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in a Christian environment..." Ken Rapp Retires and Greg Shamburg will Serve as New CEO

The Denny Price Family YMCA announced on Nov. 20 that Greg Shamburg will serve as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2018. He will succeed Ken Rapp, who has served as president and CEO for 31 years and will retire at the end of December, as previously announced.

Greg currently serves as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Professor of Psychology at Northern Oklahoma College – Enid Campus, a position he has held since 2001, and has more than 25 years of experience in education and leadership development.

Greg received his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Central Oklahoma and holds a master’s degree in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He also has Leadership and Team Development certification with the JOHN MAXWELL TEAM.

Ken Rapp has been a part of the YMCA for 36 years. He started out as the Aquatic, Sports & Fitness Director in 1975 and left in 1980 to work in the oilfield for a brief time. In 1986 he returned to the YMCA and has served as CEO since then.
