The memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Woodrow Michael “Mike” Akers, 74, of Enid, will be held privately. Complete cremation care under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.
Mike was born March 26, 1952 to Woodrow and Bobby (Taylor) Akers in Shreveport, Louisianna, and passed from this this life April 22, 2026 in Enid, Oklahoma.
He was raised and educated in Shreveport graduating in 1970. He wen to work at a fabrication shop as a helper before working his way up to a Fabricator. He married Esther Stokley November 15, 1979. He began working for Trincor in 1996 and the company later became Aztek. He moved to Tennessee with the company. When Aztek acquired GEFCO in 2015 he and his wife moved to Enid where he continued working for GEFCO until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and won several competitions.
He is survived by his son, Robert Portis, of Euless, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Esther Akers, one son Michael Portis, and his parents, Woodrow and Bobby Akers.
