Terry Edward Mattke Sr.

Friday, September 26th, 1947 - Friday, January 20th, 2023

Terry Mattke, 75, of rural Enid, passed peacefully on Friday, January 20th, 2023 at his sister’s home surrounded by his children and his sister. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.

Terry Edward Mattke was born September 26, 1947 to Edward and Ann (Moeding) Mattke of Huron, SD. He attended school south of Huron until the ninth grade when he decided to transition into the workforce. He worked for several companies in the Huron, SD region including Bartholow Construction, packing houses, and several manufacturing companies. He also worked for his brother Gary on the Mattke family farm for several years before moving to Oklahoma where he also worked in manufacturing and owned his own towing service. In his spare, time he enjoyed playing guitar and was in a country/western family band, called the Country Kings with his father, Ed Mattke, and his two brothers, Gary and Jeff Mattke. His favorite song he would sing and open his set with was “Your Cheating Heart” by Hank Williams, Sr. He also started his own band in Mitchell, SD before moving to Enid, Oklahoma. He also enjoyed working on and fixing classic cars and trucks and overhauling engines.

He is survived by his children, Lita (Dwane) Johnson Buna, TX; Linda (Bret) Spencer Fordyce, NE; Jaylene (Earl) Fanger Blunt, SD; and Terry (Ashton) Mattke Harrisburg, SD. 13 grandchildren; Heather Runnels, Raymond Runnels, Ryan Runnels, Steven Miller, Ashley Spencer, Jessica Spencer, Bridgette (Fanger) Loesch, Brianna (Fanger) Todd, Earl Fanger Jr, Jasmyn Mattke, Raniesa Mattke, Jordin Mattke, and Natalya Mattke, as well as 18 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his three siblings, Nancy (Jim) Sadler, Gary (Deb) Mattke, and Jeff Mattke.

He is preceded in death by grandparents Albert and Caroline (Haffner) Mattke of Huron, and Willie and JoHanna (Thompson) Moeding of Huron, SD, and his parents Edward and Ann (Moeding) Mattke also of Huron, SD.

Services are pending by his immediate family residing back in Huron, SD. His burial service will be held at Restlawn Memory Gardens next to his parents Edward and Ann Mattke, as this was his last and final request before his passing.
