Susan Margaret Herlihy

Susan Margaret Herlihy, 55, passed away on December 4, 2017 in San Diego, California. Susan was born in Enid, Oklahoma, on April 6, 1962 to Mary Provaznik Herlihy and Robert Moran Herlihy, MD, who preceded her in death.

Susan graduated from Enid High School in 1980. In her years at Enid High, Susan was a member of the Aquaettes synchronized swimming team and was selected by her peers to the May Fete Court. Susan also enjoyed cheerleading, running, and spending time with friends and family.

Susan attended the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated with a BA in 1984. Susan enjoyed campus life, spending time with her Theta sisters, and celebrating birthdays and special occasions with the Herlihy sisters.

In Susan's professional life, she enjoyed fashion while working in sales for Koslow's and as a manager for Nordstrom's. Susan had a flair for style and it showed in all aspects of her life.

Susan was a gentle and loving soul, who enjoyed interacting with people of all walks of life. Her deepest love was reserved for her daughter, Katherine. Susan also loved all animals, big and small. As a child, Susan would rescue animals around town hoping that no one would notice an extra dog or cat around the house.

Family was very important to Susan. She was the youngest of eleven children. Susan is survived by her daughter, Katherine Helen Symons, who was the pride and joy of her life, and eight siblings: Robert (Vicki) Herlihy, Mary Pat (Doug) Abele, Bill Herlihy, MD, Richard Herlihy, MD, Joan (Tony) Stracquadanio, Rita (Randy) Ratcliffe, Carol (David) Poarch, Ann (Jeff) Golumbuk, sister-in-law, Patti Herlihy, twenty two nieces and nephews and thirteen grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her brothers, John Herlihy MD and James Herlihy, and sister-in-law, Julie Herlihy. Susan was also preceded in death by Tad Symons.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City, OK. A Visitation and Rosary will be held at the funeral home from 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2017. A Catholic Mass celebrating Susan's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 15, 2017, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will follow the service at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
