Sound the Alarm and Help Save Lives

ENID, Okla. — The American Red Cross Northwest Oklahoma Chapter asks everyone to help Sound the Alarm in Enid and be part of the nationwide Red Cross effort to help reduce the number of deaths and injuries from home fires.
-
Here in the Enid community, the Red Cross of Northwest Oklahoma invites the public to join the Sound the Alarm home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event on Saturday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to Noon. Participating partners working with the Red Cross include the Enid Fire Department, OG&E, the United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma, as well as various other partners.
-
If you live in the Enid community and would like a free smoke alarm, please call 405-355-9827 to schedule an appointment. If Saturday, October 13 is not a good day for us to come see you, please call and we will schedule another time.

“Home fires are the biggest disaster threat we face, killing seven people in this country every day,” said Mary Ann White, Executive Director of the Northwest Oklahoma Chapter. “Here in Northwest Oklahoma we assisted over 500 families with disaster assistance during FY18. Please help us Sound the Alarm by volunteering to install smoke alarms in your community, making a financial contribution, or taking steps to protect your own family from home fires.”
-
The Home Fire Campaign is making a difference. As of September 24, the Red Cross and our partners across the country have saved at least 472 lives through the Home Fire Campaign.
-
Nationwide, the Red Cross will Sound the Alarm through a series of smoke alarm installation and fire safety events in more than 100-high-risk communities. These events are related to the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which since 2014 has helped save lives through smoke alarm installations and home fire safety education in thousands of communities.
-
The Red Cross responds to nearly 64,000 disasters a year, the majority of which are home fires. Home fires represent a significant threat to our communities, which is why the Red Cross launched the nationwide Home Fire Campaign and rallied an army of volunteers, donors, and partners to canvass high-risk neighborhoods, install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and help families create escape plans.
-
Please join this important effort. Together, we can Sound the Alarm about fire safety and help save lives.
