Sandra was born April 11, 1938, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to James and Jimmie (Sprouse) Sanders, and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Sandra was raised in Kremlin, Oklahoma and attended the First Christian Church where she was baptized in December of 1952. She graduated from Kremlin High School in 1956. During her senior year she was awarded the Citizenship Award. After graduation, she attended Phillips University, graduating in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Education. During her college years, she was a member of Tenth Muse Social Service Club, Student Senate, editor of The Haymaker, assistant editor of The Phillipian, and a member of the Student-Faculty Publication Committee. She wrote The Phillips Footnotes Column for two years and for the Enid News and Eagle. She was awarded the Outstanding Junior Girl Award in 1959. She started her teaching career at Garber High School for two years, and then taught English at Waller Junior High for twenty-four years.

Sandra married Carlan Crawford, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1960, at the First Christian Church in Kremlin, Oklahoma, and they were happily married until his death on January 29, 2008. Duwayne Douglas Crawford, her son, was born February 10, 1962; later, their daughter, Anita Gaye Crawford was born on August 4. Sandra loved the scripture, 3rd John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth.”

The Lord was extremely important to Sandra. The family first joined Christ United Methodist Church in 1963, where she served as a teacher, president of women’s ministry, and lay leader. In 1979, she and her husband Carlan, joined Central Assembly of God where she taught the Women of Grace class for 16 years. In 1995, they became charter members of Harvest Time Worship Center with Grace, where Sandra was active in prayer groups and women’s groups for 27 years. Another of her favorite scriptures is 1 Corinthians 2;9: “Eyes have not seen, nor ear heard. Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” Her grandchildren were such a blessing that had been prepared for her. She loved these children dearly. She was the apple of their eyes as well. Charise Hadley stated, “I was so proud to have her as my grandmother.”

She is survived by her son, Duwayne Douglas Crawford, of Enid; daughter, Anita Henrichson and husband Kevin, of Sunnyvale, TX; her grandchildren, Nichole Gabrielle Jackson and husband Luke; Nathan Brown; Charise Hadley Metzel and husband Adam, all of Dallas, TX; Clay Crawford and wife Kacie, of Saginaw, TX; step-grandchildren, Clayton Henrichson and wife Taylor, of Little Rock, AR; Wyatt Henrichson; Brooke Marie Henrichson and Taylor Lee Henrichson, all of Sunnyvale, TX; Cody Beck, of Blanchard, OK; Kurtis Coats, Wichita Falls, TX; Shelby Lamberth of Woodward, OK; and Caleb Meadows, of Edmond, OK.
