Graveside burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday August 18th from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Anderson Burris Funeral Home.

Ron was born February 16, 1936 (21 minutes after his twin brother Don), in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Rev. Ernst and Lydia (Heller) Mueller. Ernst was serving as a Lutheran Missionary at the time. The family returned to the United States when he was 4. They lived in Minnesota and Kansas before moving to Lahoma, Oklahoma in 1953. Ron graduated from Lahoma High School in 1954 and attended Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State University). He married Verna June Buller on July 21, 1957. They made their home in Enid, and later in Meno and Goltry.

Ron held many different sales jobs over the course of his career, but his passions were church, refereeing basketball, and umpiring softball. He began refereeing and umpiring around 1965 and was always recruiting others to join the referee and umpire family.

He held many honors with the Oklahoma Amateur Softball Association (ASA). Ron was the Oklahoma-State Umpire in Chief for slow pitch softball for around 20 years. He was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame as an umpire in 1986. In 1990 Ron became a member of the ASA National Indicator Fraternity. In 1999 he was given the ASA Gold Medal Award. His greatest recognition came in 2011 when he was awarded the ASA Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ron is survived by his wife Verna of the home, son Mike and wife Robin, daughter Janet and husband David Jones, son Mark, all of Enid. 12 grandkids, 18 great grandkids, and his 2 brothers; Don and his wife Lanelle, and Raymond and his wife Sharon. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Armand and Armand’s wife Dorris.
