Robert E. "Bob" Anderson

March 17, 1937 - December 4, 2023

A private family graveside service honoring the life of Robert E. (Bob) Anderson, 86, of Enid will be held on Friday December 8, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Don Johnson of Central Christian Church officiating. A public celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings, a life celebration home.

Bob was born on March 17, 1937, the son of Richard and Mildred Anderson of Garber, Oklahoma. He passed away on December 4, 2023. He was raised and educated in Garber. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Garber High School in 1955. Bob married Pat Phillips of Enid in 1958. He graduated with a business degree from Oklahoma State University in 1959 and they moved to Enid in 1962 where he operated Otis Phillips Printing. He was a member of Central Christian Church and over the years he was active as a Director on several Boards and as a member of various civic organizations in the Enid community.

He was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 1969 and served for 13 years representing the citizens of Garfield County. In 1987 Bob was appointed by Governor Henry Bellmon to be the chairman of the Oklahoma Tax Commission, a position he held for 14 years under three governors. A lifelong wheat and cattle producer, farming kept him active in his later years.

He is survived by his children; Dr. Kim Anderson and husband Dr. John Summar of Conifer, Colorado and their children Stephanie, Andrew, and Luke; Dr. Angi Carey and husband John of Austin, Texas and their children Anna Grace and Miles; Sen. Patrick Anderson and his wife Kelly of Enid and their daughters Katlyn and Lauren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don, and his wife Pat.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Foster Feet, to a charity of the donor’s choice, or to the Central Christian Church memorial fund with Brown-Cummings funeral home serving as custodians of the funds.
