Richard Hobert Bugg

May 13, 1942 - April 4, 2024

Richard Hobert Bugg was born May 13, 1942, in Enid Oklahoma to Hobie Bugg and Opal (Fogleman) Bugg. He was the youngest of four siblings and the only boy. Buddy grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1960. He was a member of the track and football teams. In July of 1963 he married Betty Fay Tydings and they were married until Betty passed away in September of 1995, after a long battle with cancer. During their marriage, two children were born Cordell Bugg in April of 1966 and Joshua Bugg in April of 1974, both born on the same day eight years apart.

Buddy owned and operated his construction company RH Bugg Construction for most of his life following in his father’s footsteps. He was known for the quality and care he put into projects no matter how big or how small. He did it more for the love of his craft than he did for the money. He enjoyed the smile and pleasure he put on people’s faces when he was done with their project.

Buddy’s greatest blessing came when he became a grandad (Poppy). He loved spending time with his grandkids, whether they were drawing at the kitchen table, playing tag in the yard, woodworking at his shop, he traveled all over to watch them play sports, be in dance recitals or anything else that they may be involved in. His love for his grandchildren was unmatched.

Buddy wanted his obituary to say, “If you knew me you knew it all.”

Though he will be missed by many, he is no longer in pain and the suffering is over.

Buddy is survived by his son Cordell Bugg and wife Tracy of Tulsa, son Josh Bugg of Enid and grandchildren Addison, Carson, Cooper, Creighton, Emmerson, Callen and Cambrea.

Obituaries are posted, in part, due to the generosity of The Commons.
