The Memorial services celebrating and honoring the life of Richard Gordon Claflin, 82, of Enid will be held privately under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.

Richard was born June 14, 1944, to Homer Merle and Clara Audine Sulzberger Claflin in Perryton, Texas and passed from this life June 27, 2026 in Enid.

He was raised and educated in Wakita, graduating from Wakita High School with the class of 1962. He enlisted in the the United States Navy in 1944 where he was an Aircraft Electrician stationed at Point Magu, California. He married Connie Mae Hall on May 12, 1972 in Anthony, KS. He then attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor’s in Accounting and Economics. In 1977 he began working at Co-op and by 1979, he had completed General Management Training. In 1980, he began his career as Co-op General Manager and worked as manager at Carmen, Wakita, and Healy, Kansas until 2001. Upon moving to Enid in 2001, he worked as a security guard until he retired in 2009. He enjoyed woodworking, motorcycles, collecting vinyl record albums, discussing politics, taking drives, and especially enjoyed his time with his family.

He is survived by his daughter Crystal Meadows and her husband Jamie, his son Johnny Claflin and wife Amy; two grandchildren, Hailey Meadows and Ava Vergara; one great grandchild, Valor Vergara; and one brother, Bill Claflin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; parents Homer and Audine Claflin; and two siblings, Dennis Claflin and R.C. Claflin.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Hospice Circle of Love with Brown-Cummings, serving as custodian of the funds.
