Ribbon Cutting at Fowler Early Childhood Center

ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools will host a special reception next week to celebrate the opening of the new Fowler Early Childhood Center, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony.
-
The event will be Thursday, December 19, from 4:30-5:45 p.m., with a program beginning at 4:45 p.m.
-
The building, located on the Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid campus, is named after Willa Jo Fowler, longtime Enid Board of Education member and childhood advocate. Fowler said she would like to extend a special invitation for the event to her former students and those who taught with her during her career.
-
“This is certainly a wonderful and deeply appreciated culmination to my teaching career that spanned 42 years and included teaching three-year-olds to university post-graduates,” said Fowler. “I am grateful for those who have supported my passion for early childhood education through the years. It is my hope that this state-of-the-art building will be a blessing not only to the precious four-year-olds who attend here but also to the many NWOSU students who will have the opportunity to learn more about young children.”
-
EPS officials will honor Fowler for her contribution to public education, and the NWOSU-Enid administration for their collaboration with the project, which was made possible through the 2016 bond program.
-
“We are grateful for the Enid community and NWOSU-Enid for making this program a reality,” said Dr. Darrell Floyd, EPS Superintendent. “Not only does this building provide classrooms for our youngest learners, but it also gives a space for future teachers to observe our educators. It is win-win.”
-
Refreshments will be provided by EPS and music by the Waller Middle School Honor Choir. For more information, please contact Amber Graham Fitzgerald at arfitzgerald@enidk12.org.

I can’t think of anyone more deserving than Willa Jo Fowler! I was honored to serve on the EPS Board of Education with her. She has dedicated her life to promoting education. Congrats on a job well done!
