Patricia Nunley Reese

Patricia Reese passed away on April 3, 2019 in Enid. Patricia Lueve Nunley was born to Luther M. and Evelyn (Caldwell) Nunley on November 12, 1937 in Marlow, Oklahoma. Pat was baptized into the Methodist Church at an early age, and she was a member of the Mooreland First United Methodist Church at the time of her passing. Pat’s family lived in the Waco, Texas area when Pat started school, and they later moved to Fairview, Oklahoma. Pat graduated with the Fairview High School Class of 1956.
-
Pat and Nathan Reese were married in Fairview on August 31, 1958. Pat and Nathan attended Oklahoma State University. After completing studies at OSU in 1960, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, where Pat worked at the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, supporting the family while Nathan was in Graduate School at the University of Wisconsin. After Nathan received his Degree in 1964, they moved to Abilene, Texas, where Pat began her career as a full-time housewife and mother of their two sons, Mark and Randall.
-
Pat was very supportive of Nathan’s career, although it required several relocations including Guadalajara in Mexico as well as Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. Pat was an enthusiastic supporter of youth groups such as FFA, in which both Mark and Randall earned the American Farmer Degree. Pat was honored at the 2014 Oklahoma State FFA Convention when she was the recipient of the Honorary State FFA Degree.
-
Pat was a true partner in Nathan’s career in the cattle feeding industry. She was very active in industry activities when they lived in Hooker, Oklahoma and Garden City, Kansas, always willing to help wherever needed. Pat enjoyed travelling throughout the USA and Canada as well as trips to Europe and Africa.
-
Among Pat’s greatest joys was the arrival of her only grandson, Jimy Reese in 2004.
-
Pat was preceded in death by her son, Mark, her parents and her brother, Thomas Samuel Nunley.
-
She is survived by her husband of 60 years; one son, Randall and wife, Mary Jane, and grandson Jimy of Palatine, IL; daughter-in-law Alison Reese of Enid, and daughters of her late brother, Julie Nunley of Chickasha and Jennifer Frank and great nephew, Samuel, of Norman. Pat is also survived by other relatives, including several special cousins, and she cherished all of Nathan’s brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
