Pacers Head Back to State After 21-Year Wait

ENID, OK. - The Enid High Pacer softball team is headed back to the Class 6A state tournament, and this one has been a long time coming.

Enid earned its first trip to the state tournament since 2005 by rolling through last week’s regional at home. The Pacers defeated Norman North and then took care of Sand Springs twice, including a 10-1 win in the regional championship game.

It has been a remarkable season for Coach Chris Jensen and the Pacers. Enid entered regional play with just one loss on the season and went undefeated in district play.

Enid will face Piedmont at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Class 6A quarterfinals at Firelake Ballpark in Shawnee, OK. Enid defeated Piedmont 4-0 earlier this season.

A win Thursday would send Enid into Friday’s semifinals against the winner of Mustang and Southmoore, with the Class 6A championship scheduled for Saturday at 10am.

Good luck to the Pacers at State!
