Mary Lee Johnson (Carr)

Saturday, September 19th, 1936 - Thursday, June 10th, 2021

A Celebration of Life service for Mary Lee Johnson, age 84 of Enid will be 2:00 pm Monday, June 14, 2021 at Central Christian Church with Reverend Tom Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Wear purple, for that is Mary's favorite color.

Mary was born September 19, 1936, in Enid, OK to James B. and Dorothy N. Carr and passed away early Thursday, June 10, 2021, in St. Mary’s Hospital. She attended and graduated from Manhattan Public Schools, Kansas. She received her Bachelor of Science from Manhattan Christian College where she was the salutatorian of her class. She married Max Johnson on September 19, 1958, in Council Grove, KS.

Mary worked as a legal secretary in Enid, until her retirement in the late 90’s. She was an active member of Central Christian Church where she was served as an ordained Elder, Church Board Moderator from 2002-2005, Sunday school teacher, choir member, member of Caregivers, and the Crusader Sunday School Class. She was chosen as the Mother of the Year of Central Christian Church in 2000. She was a member of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and Lifelong Learning. She was an avid genealogist.

Mary is survived by her husband Max of the home, children; Debra Travers and husband Glen of Garden City, KS, James Johnson and wife Mary Helen of Boerne, TX, and Randy Johnson and wife Jane of Enid; 10 grandchildren: Cody Atkinson, Jennifer Mata, Matthew Johnson, Mark Johnson, Arianna Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Michael Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Sarah Johnson, and Anamaria Johnson. Six great grandchildren: Dominic Mata, Isabella Mata, Max Mata, Gracie Atkinson, Charlotte Johnson and Marek Johnson, sister Betty Cook of Tennessee and niece, Sheryl Stack of Austin, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church Choir Fund with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
