There will be a private graveside funeral for Mary Helen Iselin, 82 year-old Enid resident, in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Reverend Gail Edmison will officiate.

Mary Helen was born October 5, 1938 in the farmhouse of her parents, Frank “Bud” Bogert and Helen (Lynch) Bogert, near Kremlin and died March 22, 2021 at the Commons in Enid. She attended her first school, Spring Valley, a one-room school house. She graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1956. She then attended OSU, obtaining her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Secondary Education.

On November 23, 1960, she married Dennis Iselin at First United Methodist Church in Enid. The couple made their first home in Morrison, OK where Mary Helen taught while Dennis finished his student teaching. They then taught at Cushing for three years, and Stillwater to finish one class for a year before they were both hired in Kansas City and both taught at the two biggest high schools in the city.

The couple moved to Enid in 1966 where she taught English at Longfellow Junior High. In 1967, the couple gave birth to their daughter, Amy. Mary Helen continued working in education throughout her career. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Junior Welfare League, and was a founding member and first President of PEO Chapter F.S. She also volunteered for the YWCA and the Oklahoma Blood Institute.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis of the home; daughter, Amy Niemann and husband, Lee of Sugarland Texas; granddaughter, Jessica and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
