Martha Swanson

December 24, 1927 - January 16, 2022

Martha Swanson, loving mother, devoted grandmother, patient and loyal caregiver, began her heavenly journey while surrounded by family on January 16, 2022, in Enid. She was 94.

Martha was born on December 24, 1927 in Goltry, OK., to Pete and Lena Jantz Becker. After completing her education through the 8th grade, she earned her GED, and later went on to earn her LPN Certification from Autry Tech.

Martha accepted a proposal of marriage from Kenneth Swanson and they were wed together in holy matrimony on November 19, 1965 in Kingfisher. Together they made their home in Enid while raising their six children.

During her life she never let a day pass without worshiping God. She was a nurturing mom, grandmother, and great-greatmother, always up for an impromptu visit or call and a heart-to-heart talk. A resourceful and creative cook, she spent many hours in the kitchen filling the stomachs and hearts of her family with love.

She enjoyed the constant company of her beloved and spoiled pets, tending her flower and vegetable gardens, and listening to sermons and gospel music on the tv and radio.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, and daughters, Diana UpChurch and Gayla Norris. She is survived by a brother, Eugene Becker, her son, James Hill, daughters, Barbara Tabor, Debra Fulton, and Ashley Kindred, twenty grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Her unconditional love, unwavering support, and cooking will be greatly missed.

Graveside services celebrating the legacy of her life will be held on Monday, January 24th, at 10:00am at Waukomis Cemetery with Marilyn Murray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Memorials to support her love of animals may be made through the funeral home to the Enid SPCA www.enidspca.org/donate
