Man Leads EPD on Slow Speed Chase In A Forklift

ENID, OK - On January 14th, 2020 at approximately 7:40 am the Enid Police Department received a call of a theft of a 15 ton forklift. The forklift was stolen from the hotel construction site at 100 W. Maine. Officers responding to the call located the forklift and attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the forklift. The subject on the forklift refused to stop and eluded officers for approximately 15 minutes.

During the pursuit the subject dumped the bricks from the bucket of the forklift at 200 N. Adams. The forklift became inoperable at 600 E. Maple and the subject driving the stolen forklift was taken into custody.

The subject was identified as 23 year old, Garrett Michael Anderson. Anderson was booked into the Garfield County Detention Center for Grand Larceny, Public Intoxication (drugs), Malicious Injury to Property and an outstanding Garfield County warrant.

During the investigation it was determined that Anderson gained entry into the hotel and broke 2 exterior windows and 2 boxes of tile, before stealing the forklift.
