Lucille Edwina Hayward

December 29, 1938 - December 29, 2025

Lucille Hayward passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at her beloved home on the family farm east of Marshall on her 87th birthday surrounded by the life and love she had so carefully built. Born December 29, 1938, in Orlando, Oklahoma, to Frank Edwin and Ethel Etta (Ingmire) Kriethe, Lucille lived a life rooted in faith, family, and deep connection to her community.

Lucille graduated from Covington High School in 1956. On November 15, 1958, she married the love of her life, Raymond Hayward, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enid. Together, they shared a lifetime of partnership, adventure, and devotion. During Raymond’s time in east Texas, the two enjoyed long motorcycle rides and the simple joy of being together, always dreaming of the day they would return home. In 1999, that dream became reality when they settled on their forever farm east of Marshall, a place that brought them both great peace and pride.

Lucille loved her family fiercely. Above all else, she cherished time spent with them, especially keeping up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren through visits, photos, and videos that never failed to bring a smile to her face. She had a way of making everyone feel seen and loved, often sharing gentle reminders to “enjoy every minute” with a tight squeeze that said even more than words ever could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Allie Joyce Miller; and her brother, Jack Kriethe.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Raymond Hayward; her children, Sandy (Keith) Downing, Ray (Jeannie) Hayward Jr., and Kathy (John) Jackson; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Covington, with Pastor Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Hayward Cemetery under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory of Enid.
