Enid, OK, April 2, 2018 – Leadership Greater Enid Class XXVII has exceeded their initial fundraising goal of $22,000 needed to replace the existing air conditioning units in the auditorium at Booker T. Washington Community Center. As of March 29, the class has raised $23,000 through sponsorships and team signups for the benefit golf tournament at Meadowlake Golf Course on Friday, April 6, 2018.

“Our class really came together to hit our goal and I am proud to say that we have now exceeded it,” said Jennifer Bauman, Class Project Committee Chair. “It has been an incredible opportunity to give back to an organization like Booker T. Washington that provides several opportunities for youth in the area.”

The sponsorship deadline has passed but the class is still accepting teams who are interested in playing in the tournament. An additional morning flight was added to the tournament after the number of registered teams continued to grow.

“We have had such a great response from our local community and LGE alumni,” Bauman said. “We have more than 30 hole sponsors and 34 teams signed up to play. We truly could not have reached our goal without their support!”

The tournament will feature contests including Long Drive Champion Owen Hanson, lunch provided by Schieber Insurance and a silent auction. Registration begins at 8 a.m., lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and tee times are 8:30 a.m. for the morning flight and 1:30 p.m. for the afternoon flight.

Each LGE Class is required to select and participate in a community service project. This year’s class chose to partner with Booker T. Washington after visiting the facility and seeing it’s impact on the community. Opened in 1982, the community center provides an after-school program, fitness and other facilities for the public and a summer program for students. The facility is located at 800 S. 5tt in Enid, Okla. Booker T. Washington is a non-profit and offer after school programs for just $50 per semester (Aug-May).
