Karrie Nelson

July 29, 1959 — April 7, 2025

Karrie Lyn Nelson, born July 29,1959 in Enid Oklahoma, entered the gates of heaven on April 7th, 2025.The world was made a better place by her generosity, her laughter, her gift for words, and her artistic view of the world.

Karrie's life was marked by her care for others as a daughter, a granddaughter, sister, aunt, friend and nurse. She was a giver of wonderful gifts, a person always happy to "talk it out" with, one who remembered important dates and thoughtfully called to share the sadness of that day or celebrate it's joy. She saw the best in all of us and wasn't shy in encouraging us to live up to our potential.

Karrie graduated High School at Jet-Nash in 1977. She worked as a caregiver and later a house manager for the developmentally delayed clients until 1992 when she achieved her LPN license. In 1995 she earned her RN degree. For 30 years she worked in the medical field allowing her heart to be stretched (her words) by the experience of walking with her patients through their last days or through their healing.

She is survived by her mother, Marilyn Embree (Jim) of Stillwater, Ok; her sister, Beckie Polasek (Joe) of Morrison, Ok; her brother, Chuck Nelson (Ladeana) of Enid, Ok; nephew Evan Polasek (Natalie) of Nash, Ok; niece Mallorie George (Damon) of Oceanside, Ca; niece Caroline Polasek of Stillwater, Ok; nephew Andrew Polasek (Michaella) of Aiken, SC; Wes Nelson (Lacy) of Enid, Ok; nephew Duncan Nelson (Jessie) of Pawnee, Ok; niece Deedra Tucker (Aidin) of Okmulgee, Ok; and multiple great nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death is her father Dean Nelson, grandparents Charlie and Lois Nelson; Russell and Elva Evans, nephew Ethan Nelson, and dear friends, Bill, Wayne and Ro.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider allowing your hearts to be stretched in kindness as Karrie did.
