The Funeral services celebrating and honoring the life of Joan Barrow, 80, of Enid will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday December 09, 2019 in the Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Terry O’Toole officiating. Burial will follow in the Waukomis Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

She was born on July 02, 1939 to Larry and Ruth Painter Shuman in Ashland, Kansas and passed from this life on December 06, 2019 in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was raised and educated in Buffalo, Oklahoma where she graduated from High School. She then attended College in Ashland, Kansas. In 1966 she moved to Edmond and began working at the Sequoyah Building for the State of Oklahoma. She met the love of her life, Melvin Leon Barrow, while attending church. She married Melvin Leon Barrow on July 01, 1970 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She later began working for the Russell Dougherty school of Edmond where she worked for over twenty-one years. She was known for her fun personality, always having a great since of humor, and enjoyed making people laugh. She liked camping and catching up with her McDonald’s friends. She was always full of love for her family and absolutely loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Karen Stevens, and husband Larry, Charlotte Reiter, and husband Mark, grandchildren, Brooke Ashlock, Krystal Blevins, Mark Reiter, and Hogan Burleigh, great-grandchildren, Shayla Ashlock, Aden Ashlock, Kolson Ashlock, Konnor Blevins, and Korben Ashlock, Jadyn Reiter, Derek Reiter, and Hayley Reiter, great-great granddaughter, Violet Ashlock, and brother Jerry Shuman.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials in her name may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Alzheimer’s division with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
