Imogene Ruth Taylor (Nobis)

Funeral services for Imogene R. (Grammie) Taylor, 90, will be held Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11:00am at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont, with Rev. Mark Blakeman and Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ladusau Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8pm.

Imogene was born December 3, 1927 in Fairmont, OK to John and Bertha Nobis. She went to her heavenly home on August 4, 2018.

Imogene was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the choir and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Pioneer Wheathearts Extension Club.

Imogene graduated from Garber High School and attended St. Johns College in Winfield, KS for two years receiving her Associates degree.

Imogene married Wilbur Lee Taylor on August 14, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived on a farm south of Fairmont for 63 years where they raised wheat, pigs, her flowers and 3 daughters.

She went to work as a bookkeeper at the Farmers Coop in Fairmont in 1978 and retired in 1990. This is when her favorite job began! Her greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s activities where she became known as Grammie to everyone she met along the way. Her gentle and fun-loving spirit was known by many. She was even able to attend her great-grandchildren’s activities until she became less mobile and then she became an avid Thunder basketball fan.

Grammie is survived by her three daughters, Annie and Kirk Mason of Ames, Nancy & David Nelson of Carrier, and Lorraine Brainard & Kelly Bittle of Fairmont. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Julie & Kevin McMahon, Sarah & Brian Jantzen, Katie & Jesse McCants, Greg & Heather Hargis, Jacie & Matt LeCrone, Taylor & Darci Brainard, Walker Brainard, Andy Nelson, and Brady Nelson and 17 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Zion Lutheran Church Preschool or Faith Hospice.
