The funeral for Gene O. Thrasher, 90 year-old Enid resident is 10:00AM Tuesday, March 4, 2025 in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Matt Miles will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gene was born February 4, 1935 in Enid, Oklahoma, the first born son of Clint O. Thrasher and Doris P. (Horsley) Thrasher and died Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Greenbrier Nursing Home. He was an avid sports fan and graduated from Oklahoma University in 1957 with a BA in Journalism.
He immediately went to work as a sports writer for the Lawton Constitution Publication in Lawton, Oklahoma. Gene served as a sports writer for over 42 years and continued to cover games long after his retirement for the Lawton Constitution. He loved athletes and athletics and watched many games after his retirement.
The most remarkable traits in his life was he never judged anybody and did no harm to others his entire life.
He is survived by one brother, Clint O. Thrasher Jr., one sister-in-law Jane Thrasher, and several nieces and nephews.
