Ernest Lee Hays

Funeral services for Ernie Hays will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel, and will be officiated by Pastor Lowry. Ernie was born November 5, 1941, to Andrew & Mabel Hays in Enid, Oklahoma, and passed away peacefully June 22, 2018, age 77, at his home in Enid, surrounded by his family. Cremation arrangements are being made following.

Ernie attended schools in Enid. He had worked in the oilfield as a driller. He owned his own welding business. Then later started his own concrete business for 20 years before he became ill. He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, loved to listen to country music and telling his humorous jokes. Ernie knew he was greatly loved by his family.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of the home: 2 daughters and 6 step children, LeaAnn Pelfrey and husband Charles of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Annette Allison of Hillsborough, North Carolina, JD Davenport of Sasakwa, Dr. Michael Daughter and wife Kris of Arlington Heights, Illnois, Dennis Davenport of Enid, Johnny Davenport and wife Tina of Enid, Kathy Semmel and husband Terry of Enid, Steven Davenport and wife Lane of Enid; 14 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren: Three brothers and one sister; Bob Hays and wife Sondra of Enid, Merriann Martin and husband Bill of Hewett, Texas, Tom Hays and wife Susan of Scottsdale, Arizona, Wayne Hays of Ponca City, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Mabel Hays, one brother Billy, one sister, Marie Baldwin and husband James, one stepdaughter Nancy, and one step granddaughter Tisha, and many aunts, uncles & cousins. The family would like to thank Valir Hospice and their staff for caring for him in his home in his final days.
