EPS Announces Three New Principals for 2017-18

ENID, OK - Enid Public Schools has named new principals for Coolidge Elementary School, Waller Middle School and Lincoln Academy.
-
Board of Education members approved the assignments Monday night, and the changes will be effective for the 2017-18 school year.
-
Those selected include:
-
• Sherri Hendrie, Coolidge Elementary School principal;
• Robb Mills, Waller Middle School principal; and
• Tommy Parker, Lincoln Academy administrator.
-
“We are proud to recommend Ms. Hendrie, Mr. Mills and Mr. Parker for these three important leadership positions,” Superintendent Dr. Darrell Floyd said. “They are educators of the highest caliber, and they believe in our mission to ensure every student meets his or her greatest potential every day. I know they have the skills and knowledge necessary to take each school to the next level of excellence.”
-
Hendrie currently serves as a district-level instructional coach and has 22 years of experience as an elementary teacher at McKinley Elementary School and Harrison Elementary School. She has worked at multiple EPS elementary schools and middle schools and is the district’s testing co-director and summer school co-director. She started her career with EPS in 1987.
-
Hendrie earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Oklahoma State University and her master’s degree in educational leadership from Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
-
She will succeed Jennifer Cruz, who has accepted the position of superintendent at Elmore City-Pernell Public Schools for the 2017-18 school year.
-
Mills is currently the assistant principal at Longfellow Middle School, where he has served for three years and has assisted with discipline, teacher evaluations and academic initiatives. Certified in multiple math and science subject areas, he is a former high school teacher and has coached the following sports: football, basketball (EHS varsity girls head coach), tennis and baseball. Mills, who has been with the district for 13 years, also serves as the middle school athletic coordinator.
-
Mills earned his bachelor’s degree in science from OSU and his master’s degree in educational leadership from NWOSU.
-
He will succeed Adam Beauchamp, who has accepted the position of assistant superintendent at Clinton Public Schools for the 2017-18 school year.
-
Parker has been an assistant principal at Enid High School for six years, where he coordinates virtual/distance learning, evaluates teachers and serves as the Lincoln Academy liaison, in addition to other administrative responsibilities. He is a former social studies teacher, athletic coordinator and coach for the following sports: football (EHS varsity head coach), basketball, baseball and wrestling. He has been with EPS since 2003.
-
Parker earned his bachelor’s degree in social sciences and his master’s degree in educational leadership from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
-
He will succeed Jarry Hillman, who will retire at the end of the year. Parker also will continue to assist with responsibilities at EHS as needed by the administrative team.
-
District officials also announced two additional reassignments, effective 2017-18, during Monday night’s meeting.
-
Lynne Peters, currently assistant principal at Waller, will join the instructional services department as the district curriculum specialist to fill the vacancy left by Hendrie. Using her wide range of expertise in teaching and learning, Peters will provide curriculum and instruction assistance for school sites across the district, including comprehensive support for new teachers. Her primary focus will be the secondary schools.
-
Cindy Black, currently an administrative intern at EHS, will fill Parker’s vacancy at EHS as an assistant principal. She is a first-year administrator with extensive experience as a teacher and school counselor.
-
According to Floyd, the administrative hires and reassignments will allow the district to maximize its leadership talent to make the greatest impact for students, without increasing administrative costs during difficult financial times.
-
This week, the district’s Human Resource Department will post the vacancies created by these moves -- assistant principal and/or administrative intern positions at Longfellow, Waller and EHS.
