Dorothy Lee Arnold Bracher was born in Enid, Oklahoma on June 1, 1930 to Dewey and Clara Arnold. She was raised in Enid, graduating with the Class of 1948. Her Senior class was the first one to attend Enid High School after the renovations following the fire of 1943. Dorothy was the drum major of the Enid Legionettes.
She met Worth, her true soul mate, at a dance when she was just 14. They were married on August 13, 1949 when she was 19. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary in August 2024.
Dorothy’s first job was at the telephone company as a switchboard operator. She left there to be with Worth during his military career in the army, living in several states. In July, 1954 they moved back to Enid where they made their home and have remained ever since. After the births of their three daughters she became a dedicated mother, supporting them in their various activities throughout their school years. She always enjoyed having their friends hang out at their house.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her many friends, was active in several bridge clubs, the Enid Garden Club, The Failing Wives Club, and served as President of the Meadowlake Women’s Golf Association. She was a member of Chapter DB PEO, serving as an officer for many years, She loved working on photo albums and scrapbooks, reading, and antique shopping. Dorothy loved holidays, especially Christmas. Dorothy and Worth traveled through the years, both overseas and in the U.S., where they made it to all fifty states.
Dorothy and Worth began attending Central Christian Church in 1955. The church was a very important part of her life. She was an active member of her Sunday School class, CWF, and was an Elder Emeritus. She was involved in the Care Givers ministry for over twenty years.
Her grandchildren were such a joy in her life. She loved spending time with them, having slumber parties, playing games and cards, and was blessed to see them all grow into adulthood. She was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren whom she adored. Her family was the most important thing to her. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother to them all.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her Brother William Harold Arnold, and her precious granddaughter Kirbie Nicole Brittain.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Worth Bracher, daughters Suzanne (Mike) Klemme, Pamela (Don) Robinson, and Joni (Rodney) Brittain. Grandchildren Ryan (Krystal) Stoabs, Brett (Lindsey) Klemme, Brynn (Adam) Haag, Paige Klemme, Brittany (Chris) Bruner, Brooks Robinson, and Spencer Brittain. Great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Klemme, Hunter Klemme, Mason Klemme, Kylee Klemme, Harper Stoabs, Emery Stoabs, Hudson Haag, Campbell Haag, Saylor Haag, Brooklyn Bruner, and Camden Bruner.
Dorothy’s service will be on Saturday, March 15, 2:00 at Central Christian church with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be on Friday, March 14, 6:00-7:30 at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home. Memorial donations in her honor can be made to Central Christian Church, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
