Dale Wayne Holt

Going home celebration for Dale Wayne Holt will be held on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 12:00 noon at First Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Norris L. Williams officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Enid Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service. Viewing with the family present will be held from 11:00 a.m. to service time at the church on Monday.

Dale Wayne Holt was born on January 13, 1949, to Carlos Dale and Carrie Holt. Dale was raised and attended Carver Elementary, Emerson and Enid High Schools in Enid Oklahoma, during his school years he was known by the nickname “CherryPie” Dale was a Three-Sport letterman Football, Basketball, and Baseball. He was a quarterback on three straight Oklahoma State Champion Football teams; 1964, 1965, & 1966. He started at quarterback in 1965 & 1966. He was named All-State in 1966 and played in the Oil Bowl game, Oklahoma High School players against Texas High School players. He was an Academic and Prep All-American as well as a High School Prep All-American. In 1966 Dale was named a Scholastic Magazine All-American High School Football Player. He graduated from Enid High School in 1967. He was able to attend a reunion of former Kansas football players in 2015, and it was one of the most enjoyable times of his life.

He attended Kansas University on a full football scholarship and played in the 33rd Annual Orange Bowl Classic. After attending Kansas University for four years Dale worked at Champlin Refinery Oil Co. for13 years and at OG&E for 27 years. He was always a friend to all and always made strangers feel welcome.

Dale was a founding member of the Super Bowl Brothers, who helped the city of Enid celebrated Juneteenth each year, the celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.

Dale joined and was baptized at Grayson Missionary Baptist Church in 1993. He served as the Chairman of Deacons for many years. He was a faithful member of Sunday school, Prayer Services, Bible Class Study, and Sunday morning Worship. Each year He was the chairperson for the Pastor’s and Wife Appreciation. Dale was a servant of the Lord and unto Grayson until his health failed him and He could no longer attend.

Dale was preceded in death by his Father Carlos Dale Holt, and Brother John Holt (Janet). He leaves to cherish his memory; his Loving spouse of Forty-Seven years, Evelyn Holt, two sons Kevin Holt((Victoria) of Dallas ,TX and Spencer Holt (Ricshika) of Richmond, TX; His Mother Carrie L. Holt of Enid, OK; Four Sisters, Jean Robinson and Karen Holt of Enid, Ok; Judy Hunter(Delbert) of Wichita, KS and Phyllis Holt of Oklahoma City; One brother Steve Holt(Carolyn) of San Antonio, TX; Five Grandchildren Carmen Boone, Cameron Holt, Skyler Holt, Spencer Holt, and Chelsie McKinney; Loving Uncles J. W. Rich and Ruelle Kinslow Two Loving Aunts Charlene Lewis and Almetric Kinslow; Mother-in-Law Thelma Toliver and His brother adopted through Love and friendship Rev. Norris Williams, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers please send a donation in memory of Dale Holt to Grayson Missionary Baptist Church.
