His participation in plays at the Gaslight Theatre led to a small part in the movie “Dillinger.” He loved poetry (particularly limericks) and Broadway musicals. He developed a multitude of skills in order to meet the needs of his family, including concrete (always finished with the handprints of family or pets) and mechanics (to maintain the cars of his six children). Dale enjoyed travel, frequently accompanying his children on adventures. He had a great love for coffee and conversation with friends, old and new.
-
Dale is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Jean and his son Jeffrey Dale Phillips. He is survived by his son James K. Phillips and wife Dr. Jo Cartmell, his daughter Jeanne M. Phillips, daughter Judi P. Cunningham and husband Kyle, son John Q. Phillips, and by daughter Joyce K. Schwartze and husband Bernie. Dale was much loved by his eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and his dear and trusted friend, Fay Driskell.

Dale was a man with a wide variety of interests and talents. He was a good father and provider for our family of eight. His most important legacy was the love he had for my mother and the strength of family ties. He will be missed greatly.
