Crime Stoppers: Elderly "Jail Scam" Calls

ENID, OK - The Enid Police Department has received reports from citizens in reference to a “jail scam”. It is reported that the caller will tell you that a loved one has been arrested and that they need bond money to be released. The caller will tell you to go to Wal-Mart and get either I-Tunes gift cards or Green Dot cards. The caller will then provide you with the amount, to put on the cards, to get your loved one out of jail and a phone number to call them back at. Once you call them back they will ask you for the card number to process their bond release. This scam has been targeted towards the elderly citizens of the community.
