Col. Corey Simmons Thanks The Enid Community

ENID, OK - Col. Corey Simmons, commander of the 71st Flying Training Wing, is preparing to relinquish his command of Vance Air Force Base later this month and will be moving on to a much larger Air Force base in California.
-
Simmons came to Enid in July 2018, where he established himself as a leader and a great advocate for the relationship between the City of Enid and Vance. He instantly connected with the community both as an airman and as a resident.
-
Simmons will relinquish command of Vance on June 29 at 10am and will next command the 60th Air Mobility Wing at Travis Air Force Base, CA. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the ceremony must be kept small so it will be live streamed on the Vance Facebook page.
-
Col. Tim Danielson will assume command at Vance during the ceremony. He was formerly the commander of the air mobility operations group at Pope Air Force Base, NC.
-
Col. Simmons wanted to thank the community before he left and did so in the video below. He described Vance as, "Better than any base I've ever been too." He also said, "What happens here is not normal, it is special." Simmons has served at fourteen duty stations throughout his military career.

Best wishes! And Thank you for what you’ve done for VAFB and Enid. I lived at Travis AFB prior to moving to Enid. However was actually born at VAFB many years ago. Thank you for your Service Sir ! 🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻
