Charley Taylor

December 13, 1940 - August 21, 2021

The Memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Charley “Bud” Taylor Jr., 80, of Enid, will be held privately under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Charley was born December 13, 1940, to Charley Taylor Sr. and Thelma Jenkins Taylor in Lawton, Oklahoma and passed from this life August 21, 2021, in Enid, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in the Lawton area and attended school there. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic. Family knew him as the pretty boy of the family growing up. He traveled all over the country doing odd jobs and had many stories to tell about his adventures. Bud also often told stories about him having to fly his father’s plane due to his father falling ill while flying when he was a small child. As a young man, he lived in Kentucky where he met his wife, Viola Kathleen Taylor. He eventually sold his home there to relocate to Seminole, Oklahoma. He lived there for many years where he had three children. In 2017, he moved to Enid, OK with his daughter to be near his son. He loved fishing, enjoyed tinkering, and fixing up old machinery, watching westerns, listening to country music, drawing, talking about politics, feeding local stray animals, and helping out his kids, often by fixing their vehicles. He wasn’t great at expressing emotions, but he was certainly a tremendously loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by one daughter Joyce Taylor of Enid and one son Jason Taylor of Tulsa. He is survived by two sisters, Lori Hill and Mary Lou McCormick, two grandchildren, Andrew Taylor and Shelby Patterson, and one great-grandchild Preston Taylor.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Viola Kathleen Taylor, three sisters, Pauline Maier, Charlene Anderson, and Betty Jo O’Brien, and one daughter Janet Taylor.
