Carol Lynn Jerome (Wheeler)

Carol Lynn Jerome, of Edmond, OK, passed away on October 26th, 2020, at Iris Memory Care of Edmond. She was born in Graham, Texas, February 18, 1945 to Johnnie and Fredda Wheeler.

When Lynn was young, her family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she lived until her high school graduation at Wichita Falls High School in 1963. She then attended Texas Christian University, in Ft Worth, TX, for 2 years. She married her Junior High sweetheart, Dee Jerome in 1964, and they had 2 children -- Laurie and Bradley. After moves to Enfield, Connecticut and North Ridgeville, Ohio, they settled in Shawnee, Oklahoma, remaining there for 14 years. While there, Lynn completed her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education at Oklahoma Baptist University and completed her Master’s Degree in Psychometry at the University of Central Oklahoma. In 1994, Lynn & Dee relocated to Oklahoma City and later to Edmond.

Lynn cherished being a stay-at-home mom while her children were young, returning to the work-force as a 4th grade teacher at Dale Elementary, and serving as a Special-Education teacher and Psychometrist at Heritage Hall and Piedmont Public Schools.

She enjoyed her volunteer work with Easter Seals, Mercy Hospital and the Care Center. Lynn’s favorite hobby was reading, and much of her free time was spent at a local bookstore, choosing her newest favorite book. Lynn was also an animal lover, a proud and doting grandmother, and is best known for never having an unkind word to say about anyone.

Lynn is survived by husband of 56 years, Dee Jerome, of Edmond, OK; daughter Laurie and husband Thomas Bushman of Enid, OK; son Bradley and wife Erin Jerome of Erie, CO; grandchildren Katie and husband Alex Hernandez of Edmond, OK; Brenna Bushman of Stillwater, OK; Nicole Bushman, of Enid, OK; Jacob Jerome of Norman, OK; Alec Armstrong of Oklahoma City, OK; and Tatum Jerome of Erie, CO.

Lynn was preceded in death by her father Johnnie Wheeler, of Wichita Falls, TX; mother Fredda Wheeler of Shawnee, OK; and her brother Ladd Wheeler, of New South Wales, Australia.

A private memorial service will be held for immediate family only.

Services have been entrusted to Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory of Enid, OK, with Mr. Brian Meyer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynn’s honor can be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Association or the Oklahoma Humane Society.
