Barbara Effie (Brown) Riddle died February 10, 2025 at the Commons in Enid, Oklahoma. She was born August 14, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Paul Octavius Brown and Esther Ruth (Edwards) Brown Wilson. She graduated high school there and moved to Ten Sleep, Wyoming, when she married Robert Eugene Riddle on September 17, 1950. Barbara and Gene raised four children and were married for 63 years.
Barbara worked as secretary at Campbell County High School in Gillette, Wyoming and later at Guaranty Abstract and Title in Guymon, Oklahoma. She enjoyed being a Reading Grandma and Pink Lady of the Hospital Auxiliary in Basin, Wyoming. She also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara was a lifelong reader and enjoyed camping in the Big Horn Mountains. She loved long outdoor walks.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; brother, Paul; two sisters, Pauline (Dolly) Eichholz and Shirley Vincent. She is survived by a brother, Neil Brown of California and a sister, Donna Levy of Wisconsin.
She is also survived by her children, Janice (Robert) Goodrich of Fort Myers, Florida, Darrel (Grace) Riddle of Olathe, Kansas, Joyce (Al) Watson of Enid, Oklahoma, and Dale (Andi) Riddle of Deaver, Wyoming. Barbara leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband in Ten Sleep, Wyoming. A graveside service will be held at a later date in Ten Sleep and another service will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Thursday, February13, 2025 at 2:00 pm in Enid, Oklahoma. Those wishing to remember her with a memorial may direct funds to the Special Olympics, an organization close to Barbara’s heart.
