Wooden Children Project Creates Awareness

ENID, OK - April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. The Fourth Judicial District CASA Program is reaching out to the community to help raise awareness of Child Abuse & Neglect in your county. There will be a display of wooden children on the courthouse lawn during the month of April in hopes to raise community awareness.

The Fourth Judicial District CASA Program is a non-profit organization which receives funding from grants, donations, and fundraisers. We serve the Fourth Judicial District which is comprised of Woodward, Kingfisher, Major, Blaine, Grant, and Garfield Counties. Volunteers serve the children of these communities by being a voice for them in court. Volunteers visit children in the foster care system monthly, visit with parents and foster parents, talk with caseworker, teachers, counselors, doctors, psychologists, and other people involved in the child’s case to make informed decisions about what is in the best interest of the child on the case.

We are asking businesses and individuals to support the local CASA program by fostering a wooden child for $35. Business Sponsorships for $200.00 that includes an 8.5x11 sign to be displayed with the wooden children and social media mentions (no wooden child). You can also help us spread awareness by displaying a blue light on your porch and/or place of business during the month of April.

Individuals and/or businesses who sponsor a wooden child can pick up the child on Wednesday, March 22nd at The CARE Campus from 9am till 4pm. They will dress the child(ren) in 3T stretchy clothing and bring them to the courthouse lawn on Friday, April 7th between 10am and 5pm. We will be doing a presentation of the wooden children at First Friday about 6pm. The children will be on display for the whole month of April.
