ENID, OK - Monday, August 8 will be the final day to eat at Wings To Go. They will have boneless wings and tenders most of the day. Traditional wings, fries and drinks are limited to what is on hand. Dine in and take out only. Call 580-237-9464.
In a press release posted on Facebook, Brian Hacker, Owner of Wings To Go Enid, has announced that his restaurant will soon be closing. The eatery is located in Westgate Shopping Center and has been in operation for 15 years. Hacker's press release can be read below.
After 15 years of serving our Great City of Enid, it is time to walk off to the next adventure. I have decided not to renew my lease or business licenses and notify the staff and the public well in advance.
Wings To Go Enid will cease operations sometime the Week of August 9th. My plan is to be down to Wings (and Boneless), sauces and fries by that week, and stay open till we run out- likely around August 11 or 12.
Beginning August 1, we will limit some operational and delivery hours– being low staffed we want to keep the staff’s sanity till the end. We will also switch up specials to run certain products out that week.
This is a tough decision to make. However, I keep going back to a song by Kenny Rogers called ‘The Gambler’. The line “know when to hold them, know when to fold them”. It’s time to Fold them.
In the current economy, increased cost of goods and increases in every aspect of doing business, have made it difficult to see a way forward, especially to commit to new 5 year. Sure, raise the prices more, but there is only so much folks are willing to pay.
With the lease ending, licenses needed renewed, it is time to walk away with our head held high.
All current staff are 100% hirable, trainable and great folks. Several were been told months ago to start looking for jobs, several were told yesterday so they have time to seek employment as well.
I have an amazing Wife that has carried the financial family load for a quite some time. It is time for me to find a job and help more than I have been able to this last year. My entire family is sad to say goodbye to this adventure, but it is time to move forward.
THANK YOU ENID! We have been blessed for the last 15 years, made many friends and have had great times. Although WTG will be gone, we will remain in Enid.
Lastly, please support your local restaurants, many are struggling. Distributors of all kinds continue to raise prices, (more than corporate businesses that have national contracts with built in margins). Help the local businesses PLEASE!
