Willie Francis "Champ" Myles

Willie Francis “Champ” Myles was born September 7, 1955 (Age 64) in Enid, Oklahoma to Dorine M. Hodge Myles and Willie C. Myles. He lived in Denver, Colorado for over two decades before returning to Enid in the early 1990’s.
-
Champ graduated from Enid High School in 1973 and played trumpet in the EHS band, inspired by the late Miles Davis.
-
Like Miles, Champ was cool and always dressed sharp for public events and family gatherings.
-
Champ was a fiercely independent man, but also loved to be with kinfolk, especially his uncle, the late Johnny B. Lawrence, as well as his nieces and nephews.
-
He had a great sense of humor and was smarter than he thought. Champ possessed a wisdom borne from experience that touched many people’s lives. His great wide smile and generous laughter made him a joy to be around.
-
Champ is survived by his sisters Wanda Myles Lynch (Wendell), Dr. Charolette Myles-Nixon, Sharon Myles and Diane Myles Henderson (Leon); brother Quraysh Ali Myles Lansana; two daughters and their spouses, Tara and Chris Johnson and Nicole and Jermaine Wright, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one aunt Bonnell Fields, one uncle Andrew Lawrence, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
-
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorine M. Hodges Myles, and Willie C. Myles, and brother Donnie Myles.
-
Graveside service for Willie Myles will be 11:00 AM, Friday, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Viewing for Willie will be Thursday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
