William A. "Bill" Carpenter

August 20, 1941 - May 5, 2023

William A. Carpenter (Bill) went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 5, 2023. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Central Assembly of God in Enid, OK. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 from 5 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Amy Stittsworth Funeral Home.

Bill was born on August 20, 1941 to Milton and Elsie Carpenter of Perrysburg, OH. Bill married Marcia Wensel on October 19, 1963. Bill and Marcia built a life together on the farm and had five children. Bill was preceded in death by Marcia. In January of 2020, Bill married Sharon Pendleton of Enid, OK.

As a younger man, Bill was an excellent ice skater and pool player. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, and parachute planes. One of his favorite pastimes was riding his dirt bike around the countryside looking at his land.

One of Bill's loves in life was purchasing farm land and taking it to its full potential. Bill had a passion for farming, ranching, and wide open spaces. Bill was known as a pioneer in the arena of no-till farming. He was co-founder of the Oklahoma No-Till Association.

More than anything, Bill loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was actively involved in his church. He taught Sunday School for many years.

Bill was a very strong and passionate man, full of determination and grit. He will be dearly missed. Bill is survived by his wife Sharon. He is also survived his children: Cindy Carpenter of Dallas, TX; Wayne and Jeri Carpenter of Enid, OK; Ken and Brenda Carpenter of Enid, OK; Keith Carpenter of Edmond, OK; and Roy and Christina Carpenter of Houston, TX; and his grandchildren: Jessica, Cole, Matt, Ethan, Deveny, Hudson, Dayson, Molly, Drew, and Mace; and his step-grandchildren: Jonah and Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Bill's memory to Hillsdale Christian School, PO Box 8, Hillsdale, OK 73743.
