Susan Payne officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation and services are under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Wayne passed away at home surrounded by family on January 21, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wayne was born September 17th, 1938, in Pomona, California to Vernon and Bethal (Jones) Salisbury. He joined a sister, Mary Jane. At age 3, the family moved to Broomfield, Oklahoma, near Camargo. He grew up on the family’s dairy farm. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1956. He attended Northwestern State College in Alva for a year before running a truck stop in Lavern. The family then moved to Mooreland, Oklahoma and he owned and operated a Conoco filling station for several years. In 1965, he built a new station in Mooreland, called Salisbury Oil and Gas.

In January 1969 at age 30, he suffered a life threating accident when a truck tire blew up in his face. The doctors said that there was no reason he should have lived, but God had other plans for him.

Later, he became part owner of Hayter Tire. The family moved to Guymon where the headquarters were located. There were several stores in Oklahoma and Texas. Wayne learned how to fly and bought a plane so he could fly to each of the stores.

In 1983, Wayne moved to Kremlin, Oklahoma where he was General Manager of F.W. Zaloudek’s until his retirement in 2008.

Wayne married Anita Thompsom in 1955. To that union two daughters were born, Brenda Lee and Phyllis Ann.

In 1972 a son, Michael Jon was born to Joyce and Wayne. When Mike was a young adult, Wayne and son formed a partnership, Salisbury Cattle Company and ran a farm and ranch operation.

Later, Wayne married Ann Sanderfur and was step-father to her four children: Pam, Skip, Ken and Terri.

In 1995, Wayne married Shirley Kesler and they lived in Kremlin until they moved to the farm south of Enid. There they continued farming and ranching.

Wayne lived his life to its fullest. He was a super salesman and won several trips that took him to many foreign countries. He enjoyed going out with friends and family, and enjoyed playing pool and roping. He treated everyone fairly and always kept his word. He was an avid OU fan.

Although Wayne will be greatly missed on this earth, his family knows they will see him again in heaven. Wayne was a Christian Godly man and lived his life as a faithful servant to God and those around him.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; daughter Brenda Matzek and husband Ryan of Guymon: son, Michael Salisbury of Kremlin, step-children, Brad Donnell and wife Rene of Edmond, and Geoff Kesler and wife Kristi of Owasso, grandchildren; Heather Adelman, Jeremy Matzek, Carlee Salisbury Newcomb, Jordan Newcomb, Bridgette Farmer, Gracie Donnell, Cooper Donnell, Olivia Kesler, Mason Kesler, and other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Phyllis Farmer, and many relatives and close friends.
