Walter Ernst Lemke

June 4, 1937 - April 30, 2024

Funeral service for Walter Lemke, 86, will be Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 1:30 pm in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Pastors David Reber and Kenneth Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Fairmont, under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Walter was born on June 4, 1937, in Enid, Oklahoma to Walter W. and Erna (Helberg) Lemke and passed away on April 30, 2024 in Oklahoma City.

He grew up on the family farm east of Fairmont and attended Zion Lutheran School through the 8th grade. Walter then graduated from Garber High School and graduated from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico and worked for Frontier Airlines. On September 6, 1958, he married Patricia Ann Wyssmann in Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont. They returned to Enid in 1960. Walter worked for Trinity Industries for 41 years, the last several as plant manager. He was a partner with Heritage Auction Company and was an auctioneer. Walter also enjoyed being the auctioneer for charities. He was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church and led an in-home Bible study for many years. Walter was a board member of OT Autry Tech and active in the Stephen Ministries.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lavonta Anderson and Leola Eggers; brother, Mark Lemke.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; two sons, Steven and wife Tamara Lemke, and Robert Lemke; three grandchildren, Thomas and wife, Rebecca Lemke, Seth and wife, Madisen Lemke, Sarah Lemke; four great grandchildren, Ranan, Lucy Alice, and Peter Lemke; many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Village On The Park, Legend at Rivendell and Humanity Hospice for their care of Walter.

Memorials may be made through Anderson-Burris to St. Paul’s Lutheran School.
