Virginia Ann Burd

Graveside services for Virginia Ann Burd, 93, Ponca City resident, will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. in Sunnylane Cemetery, Oklahoma City, with Tuney Ropp officiating. Arrangements are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Virginia was born on April 16, 1924 in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Henry, Sr. and Bessie Burns White, and passed away peacefully on November 6, 2017 in Ponca City. She was raised and educated in Oklahoma City, graduating from Foster High School with the class of 1942. She was a Rosie The Riveter during World War II.

Virginia married Wayne Burd in Barksdale Field, Louisiana, in 1942. They lived in Deer Creek for 10 years, moving to Lindsey, Oklahoma. He preceded her in passing. She was an optometrist assistant. In 1995, Virginia moved to Ponca City. She was a member of Community Christian Church of Ponca City.

Survivors include her daughters, Carol and husband Kenneth Jennings of Ponca City, and Sandra and husband Raymond (Leon) Currier of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Chris and Cary Jennings, Scot Currier and Ginny Currier James; great-grandchildren, Josh, Ariel, Amanda and Shelby Currier, Kenny and wife Alena Jennings, Kristin Jennings, Ally and Hannah Jennings, Daniel Jennings and Kaylee James; great-great-grandchild, Elayna Currier; numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, siblings, Bertha Lou Nixon, Margie Gibson, Henry White, Jr., grandchild, Kenneth Wayne Jennings.
