ENID, Okla. - The 30th Annual United Way Chili Cook-Off is in the books. There was a great crowd and many of the chili entries actually ran out of chili towards the end of the event.

The Judges chili choice was first place OG&E, second place KC Electric, third place YMCA. Best decorated booth first place Advance Pierre Foods, second place Enid Buzz, third place Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

People's Chili choice first place and only place OG&E. Top Dollar chili first place was Central National Bank - $3,898, second place Messer Bowers Insurance Company - $1,673, third place City of Enid - $1,629.17, fourth place Groendyke Trucking - $1,264.70, fifth place Johnston Seed Company - $840.

Tables full of white styrofoam cups welcomed hungry chili fans as they entered the United Way Cook-Off at the CNB Center. Attendees were able to sample the 48 or so different varieties of chili.

Organizations, businesses and individuals competed earlier in the month to bring their best chili creations. Each contestant had booth space and decorated in a 1930's or 1987 theme. Many not only decorated their booths but also wore costumes.

All funds raised benefit multiple partner agencies of United Way. Past United Way partner agencies include: Booker T. Washington Center, Cimarron Council Boy Scouts, American Red Cross, CDSA, Consumer Credit Counseling, Denny Price Family YMCA, Enid Community Clinic, Enid Metro Commission, Child Advocacy Council, Hedges Speech and Hearing, Girl Scouts of Western Oklahoma, RSVP, The Salvation Army, YWCA of Enid, Youth and Family Services, and Legal Aid of Oklahoma. Funds also support other local social and human services projects through annual Venture grants.
